I'm hoping for a really big turnout of fans and racers this year since we all got cheated last year when the event was cancelled.

The way the tyrannical CA State government is going, every drag race could be our last (It's bad for the environment, don'cha know") so it's important to support these events as much as possible while they last. That includes the CHRR, the Nitro Revival in Irwindale on Nov 6th and 7th, and the NHRA drags at Pomona.

Now that california governor is banning all gas powered lawn equipment, don't you think drag racing is next.
Thank God I moved to Utah.
Hope to see you all at this year's CHRR.

BTW the circuit breaker top fuel car will not be at the CHRR Pete Wittenbergs wife had twin girls last month an one just had heart surgery an she is doing great I was told. There is always another drag race.

Wish I could be there, went to the first 16, great event.

You will see more Lions Drag Strip shirts, hats, jackets than any other track....combined.

We should be there on Saturday and/or at Ming Lake for the boat drags.

Mike has the schedule:

Try this (subject to change I'm sure):

Had a good time at the CHRR Friday night at the Doubletree and Saturday at the track. Was very exited to get back to drag racing after last year. But was real disappointed at the very thin crowd at the Doubletree and also at the track. The crowd was maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of normal, and the weather was outstanding. Also the Cacklecar count was only about 30 cars +/-. Again maybe only 1/3 the cars compared to the last 5 years or so. Not sure what to make of it but I sure hope the crowds come back for the March Meet. We've seen crowds hold steady for the 2 Pomona events the last 10 years or so - not anywhere near like in the past - but holding steady in my opinion. But there are less and less drag racing fans who still live in CA, so all I can say is enjoy it while we still have it.

Had a good conversation with Mike Salinas at the Burkholder Bros pits. He's pretty open in talking to a regular fan like me. I heard some good insights from him as far as what they are doing this year to step up their game, and it shows with his results in the last few Big Show races. He plans to run the full tour next year. He's not sure yet who his crew chief will be.

The only other (former) Big Show driver I saw was Jack Beckman. No Capps, no Del Worsham, no Snake, no John Force or Robert Height, no Roland Leong. Those guys are always there in the recent past. Oh yeah, Terry Haddock was there with his new Nostalgia Funny Car. Didn't see our pal Larry Sutton either, but maybe I just missed him.

We never did sign up to race and was going to go on Saturday only, but dad got up in the morning and saw it raining and said no. A lot of the legends continue to get up in age and less incline to get in the car to drive a few hours if it's too cold. The memorial list get longer and longer each passing year too.

I'm sure a lot of others felt the same too as even the a lot of the classes were down in count I watched most of the live feed (in between chores) and it seem like some good racing.

Many feel the reunion is no longer an event to look forward to, but rather just another race. And the vibe has died off since NHRA let Steve Gibbs go and is no longer in charge. Jon, you mentioned less and less drag racing fans... I saw Larry Sutton on the live feed though and heard Linda Vaughn was there.

Normally I don't post other photographers work, but this shot by Pam Conrad is spectacular:

i went on friday, lots of cars.talked to few nice crews and drivers, great runs, weather, had a great time, also thanks for the live feed.cant wait for pomona next.

Thank you to dragracer.tv for the live stream! I was able to watch a fair amount of the show.
On Saturday, there was gal by a live microphone and we got to eavesdrop on her hilarious commentary.

I just toss this out. I'm involved with messages and emails to the track and try and respond to as many as I can but the big problem that I saw building up to the event is that people dont know that the track isnt in LA county. So many call about the restrictions that are going on in LA county that had no effect on the reunion other than people were afraid they might not get in. They big rain up north sure didnt reunion weekend either.
