Firebaugh, Ca – Jay Diedrich was torn earlier in the season when he saw that the final West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association event and the final West Coast Hot Rod Association event were booked on the same weekend. Diedrich has been a big contender and supporter this 2010 season with both the WCOPMA and in the WCHRA’s Pro Street class. So to him, only one thing was to be done, figure out a way to attend both events and support both associations.
Diedrich has his eye on second place in points with both associations. Bret Williamson wrapped up the number 1 spot with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods and Randy Walker will be leaving the big number 1 on his windshield for the WCHRA’s Pro Street class as he wrapped up the top spot for the 2010 season.
Diedrich only has 1 person to get around in the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod points standings and 2 people to get by in the West Coast Hot Rod Association’s Pro Street class.
Being only 5 points behind Rod Burbage in the WCOPMA standings means Jay has to go 1 round further than Rod this weekend at Sacramento Raceway’s “Governors Cup” event. But Jay (or Rod) can’t forget about Dan Myers in the 4th spot who wants to finish second as well and is only 17 points (1 round) out of second place.
Diedrich has a little more work cut out for him in the WCHRA standings as he sits 4th in points behind Rod Burbage (2nd) and Clint Hairston (3rd); 48 points behind Burbage and 46 points behind Hairston. With Burbage unlikely to attend both events this weekend and Hairston rumored not to be attending the WCHRA’s “West Coast Finals” event leaves Jay’s fate with the WCHRA Pro Street points standings in his own hands.
The Firebaugh Express Racing teams’ plan this weekend is to run the “Governors Cup” event with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association on Friday and Saturday, then head 5 hours south for Bakersfield where Diedrich will be placed on the bottom of the West Coast Hot Rod Associations Pro Street qualifying list with no qualifying time. That means he will have take on the number 1 qualified car first round with no laps down the track, just previous data they have accumulated throughout the season.
