Terry Brown back and ready for new PMRA Pro Modified season
Dodge Challenger team plan to run entire PMRA tour

CALEDONIA, ONTARIO (April 7, 2008) – A new car body is sparking a renewed effort in Pro Modified Racing Association action for the Terry Brown Racing team.

“We’ve got a new body for the car,” said crew chief Jason Greenland recently, but he would not go into specifics, other that to say the color is changing.

“It’s going to be a nice big surprise.”

But he did say that the car and team plan on running all of the 2008 PMRA events with the 1971 Challenger. The team placed ninth in points in 2007.

“We’re going to be at every one of them,” added Greenland. “That’s our goal.”

Former OSCA champion Brown piloted the Challenger to a 6.31-second pass last year, and the car is a consistent 6:30 car with headers. It is powered by a Keith Black 526-cubic inch Hemi, supercharged with a PSI screw blower and all linked up to a Lenco three-speed. Brown has been racing since 1999, for the past several years in Top Sportsman, Outlaw, and Pro Modified racing.

Running a car of this caliber is an expensive undertaking, and Greenland mentioned the team could use some sponsorship.

“We’re looking for sponsors,” he said. “Running one of these Pro Modifieds is not a cheap venture, but we’re going to race. It becomes addictive.”

Greenland said the car should be ready and painted in the next couple of weeks. He added the team, which not only includes himself and Brown, but team members Paul Brown and Big Mike, will be ready for the first PMRA race, the Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA Challenge May 17 and 18 at Toronto Motorsports Park.

“We’ll be ready for the first race,” Greenland said. “It should be an exciting season. I know Terry is excited about getting behind the wheel.”

PMRA tour stops in 2008 include two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, New York International Raceway Park and Dunn Tire Raceway Park in New York, Sanair in Quebec, and the Southwestern Ontario track of Grand Bend Motorplex.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association, Pro Modified Racing Association, was organized late in 2004, started racing operations in 2005, and is entering its fourth year of operation. The PMRA is a self-governing organization with input from its teams, and adheres to the technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). The series has event venues in Ontario, Quebec, and New York State.

Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and colorful classes, offering a diverse group of race cars with different types of 2,500-horsepower supercharged, nitrous powered and turbocharged engines.

No Pro Modified team has dominated in the history of PMRA events. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, each event was topped off with a different winner, and 2006 Grand Bend Motorplex winner Joe Boniferro became the first repeat winner in series history, winning the 2007 Grand Bend race.

Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".
