TALLMADGE, OHIO—Summit Racing Equipment, the world’s largest direct mail and Internet supplier of high performance automotive parts, and Kenny Bernstein Racing have reached a new sponsorship agreement for 2008. Under this agreement, Summit Racing Equipment will become an associate sponsor of Budweiser/Lucas Oil Top Fuel driver Brandon Bernstein and Monster Energy Drink Funny Car driver Tommy Johnson Jr. during the upcoming season.
“Obviously, Kenny Bernstein is a drag racing legend and his race team, Kenny Bernstein Racing, is a first-class operation,” Kirk Heinbuch, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports and Events Manager, said. “Kenny, Brandon, and Tommy have all won Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored NHRA events, and we look forward to sharing the winners circle with them again as members of Team Summit.”
Brandon Bernstein has earned 17 career victories, 23 final round appearances, and 11 number one qualifying positions. In 2007, he notched five wins and finished third in the NHRA’s “Countdown to the Championship. “ Brandon has been successful both as a driver and as a spokesperson for NHRA drag racing,” Heinbuch said. “We know he will be an excellent representative of Summit Racing Equipment,”
One of the more popular drivers in the Funny Car category, Tommy Johnson Jr. has earned ten career wins, including one in Top Alcohol Funny Car, two in Top Fuel, and seven in Nitro Funny Car. “We’ve worked with Tommy in the past, and he did an excellent job of representing Summit Racing both on and off the track,” Heinbuch said. “We look forward to continuing our involvement with Tommy during the upcoming season.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Summit Racing Equipment to our racing family,” said six-time NHRA champion Kenny Bernstein. “It’s an association that just makes good business sense. Summit has a huge inventory of everything from racing parts, like cylinder heads, to Hot Rod hardware. They turn your order around and get it on the ground to you quickly. In the early days of my racing career, I had to drive all over to chase performance parts. Summit makes it easy for the automotive enthusiast with the ‘need for speed’ running through their veins.”
In addition to its relationship with Kenny Bernstein Racing, Summit Racing is the primary sponsor of three-time NHRA Pro Stock champion Greg Anderson and 2006 Pro Stock champion Jason Line. The company is also an associate sponsor of Pro Stock drivers Warren Johnson, Kurt Johnson, and Larry Morgan; Top Fuel drivers Doug Kalitta, David Grubnic, and Hillary Will; and Funny Car drivers Scott Kalitta and Tim Wilkerson.
