Tuesday, 12 February 2008 - (Sydney, NSW) Whilst the excitement is building across all the Drag Racing categories for the Summernationals at WSID this Friday and Saturday - one category that appears set to break out as a major ANDRA Championship racing category has to be Pro Stock, with an amazing 15 entries confirmed.
With teams drawn from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT - the arm wrestle for supremacy in the ANDRA Pro Stock Championship will be intense and simply cannot be missed!
For Sydney based Drag Racer Jason Grima, the significance of such a stunning entry list for the high-tech, naturally aspirated, slippery-quick cars is not lost on him.
"Its good for the category and great for the event to see such a strong roll-up in Pro Stock. We will need to bring our A-game this weekend," Grima explained.
The St Marys, NSW based driver lives literally a stones throw from WSID and can only see further excitement build in the category into the future.
"There are a lot of new cars coming into Australia and the interest is still coming into it which is exciting. The way things are heading, it wont only be Top Doorslammer who will be asking for 16-car events at ANDRA Championship rounds."
Grima is still in the ANDRA Pro Stock Championship hunt, currently tied in third place with Queensland rookie Scott Porter and narrowly trailing John Barbagallo and Aaron Tremayne.
"We are still confident of a strong second half of the season, but the weather in Sydney these past couple of months has hurt our preparations with limited testing opportunities. The wet weather has hurt our time on the engine dyno, because you can't burn water, so we are a little rushed coming in to this weekend."
Despite intimations of a hastily contrived race prep for the PC Cranes Ford Mustang, by the sound of Jason Grima's voice - he's confident of a big result amongst a tough 15-car Pro Stock field this weekend at WSID for the Summernationals!
