Wednesday, 13 February 2008 - (Sydney, NSW) The fact there is a stacked and packed field of TEN 500km/h Top Fuel Dragsters for Amanda Shepherd to contend with this Friday and Saturday at Western Sydney International Dragway for the Summernationals, is enough to keep her mind well and truly occupied.
However for the Sydney-based youngster - there is plenty happening outside the racing this weekend to keep the Wynns driver under the pump!
"I am so excited about the weekend, both off and on the racetrack," exclaimed the lady they call 'moo' about her Summernationals preparations.
In addition to contesting the next round of ANDRA Top Fuel, Shepherd has a stacked rack of media and PR commitments as the general public warm rapidly to the bright and bubbly racer, with the Nine Network 'A Current Affair', Triple M Radio and various Sydney Newspapers all wanting a piece of the Top Fuel fanatic as she goes about her racing exploits this weekend in Sydney!
"(brother) Matt and I have been working hard on building our team profile and it has been going great so far and now I hope we can impress on track this weekend at our home racetrack too!"
Already this season, Shepherd has impressed with her engaging personality, limitless enthusiasm for the sport and most importantly, clear ability to finesse a 7,000 horsepower motorsport monster down the ¼ mile!
Top Fuel Dragsters are the fastest accelerating vehicles on planet Earth, and Shepherd has shown a rare ability to 'pedal' the car - recapture traction in the car's enormous rear tyres when they are about to smoke up in overpowering the track.
Shepherd's last competitive race still annoys her, after red-lighting against current ANDRA Top Fuel Champion Phil Read, only to get to the finish line first in a foul run!
"I still can't believe I red lit there and it definitely motivates me to serve it up to the boys this weekend. Here comes the girl power this weekend for sure!"
