Stivers Looking for Real Horsepower in Dallas

ENNIS, Texas (September 21, 2007) - It's all about horsepower for Pro Mod driver Rick Stivers, and the Lexington, Kentucky resident is hoping his success on his championship horse farm will parlay to drag racing. After selling a yearling recently for $700,000 - a huge windfall for his farm - Stivers is riding high, hoping the wins will continue this weekend as he races his 2,500 horsepower Camaro in the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex outside of Dallas this weekend.

"We've worked really hard at building the program this year, it's just time to start seeing some results," Stivers said. "With Chuck Ford calling the shots on the car, I'm sure we have a great chance this weekend. I love racing in Dallas, maybe because Texans appreciate horses. I think it's their whole cowboy thing - but I totally relate to that.

"I know we can run just as well as any of the other teams. We've got that Brad Anderson horsepower under the hood, and Chuck calling the shots, and that's definitely a pair you don't want to bet against.

"We spent a lot of time working on our combination after Indy, and Chuck and the boys were testing last week, so, I'm expecting we'll definitely go rounds this weekend. I'd love to get that AMS Eagle to add to my collection of trophies," he said.

Qualifying is scheduled with rounds at 3:15 and 6:15 p.m. Friday, September 21, and one round at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. September 22, followed by the first round of eliminations are at 4 p.m. Eliminations are schedule to be completed on Sunday, September 23.
