Drag Racing star Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens will be one of the busiest men in the country in the New Year as he travels between Brisbane and Canberra on more than one occasion to keep his fans happy at both the Street Machine Summernats and the Willowbank Raceway Nightfire Spectacular events from January 3-6.
Stevens is a regular crowd favourite on EPIC’s (Exhibition Park In Canberra’s) burnout pad for the Summernats and will again be putting on his iconic entertainment sessions in his 2,500 horsepower Jack Daniel's Racing Falcon Burnout Ute on Friday (January 4) and Sunday (January 6) at the event.
Adding to the entertainment at this years show, Stevens and Summernats organiser Chic Henry have put out the challenge to all comers, both professional and amateur, to take on Stevens in a winner takes all Burnout Gladiator Face-Off competition to help celebrate the Summernats 21st birthday.
“It is definitely going to be a hectic weekend for me flying between Brisbane and Canberra but I really wanted to make sure I put a good show at the Summernats to help mark the significant mile stone for what is one of Australia ’s premier automotive events.” Stevens said.
“They are expecting a bumper crowd of over 100,000 fans again this year and with the Burnout Gladiator Face-Off where I will go up against Victorian James Scarlett in a head to head Burnout Competition, we will be doing all we can to help make sure that it is the biggest and best yet.”
“There has been plenty of talk about who will be going up against me in the Face-Off but I think Chic (Henry) has definitely selected a worthy opponent in James and his blown, injected, big block VS Momo Ute.”
“It should be a competition that the fans will always remember as I am not planning on losing so will be giving my Jack Daniel’s Racing Burnout Ute a good workout and torturing a few sets of tyres along the way.”
The Brisbane based professional Drag Racer will jet into the nations capital on Wednesday for his Thursday and Friday Summernats shows before immediately returning to Queensland to qualify his 3,500 horsepower Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car at Willowbank Raceways Nightfire Spectacular on Friday night (January 4).
Coming off back to back wins in the last two rounds of Australian Top Alcohol Championship and currently leading the series, Stevens is hoping to keep his recent blistering form going on into the Nightfire Elimination rounds on Saturday night (January 5) before climbing back aboard a plane to head back to the Summernats for his final burnout performances on Sunday (January 6).
In addition, the Brett Stevens Racing team will have motorcycle ace Pete Cochrane aboard the teams S&S powered Pro Stock Buell racing at the Nightfire Spectacular, who is also coming off an event win after taking victory in the last round of the Australian Pro Stock Bike Championship and will be gunning for another good result to take the team to the top of the points table.
“We will definitely be aiming at a hat trick of wins in my Kitten Funny Car at the Willowbank Raceway Nightfire event to really put me in a commanding position on the Top Alcohol points table,” Stevens said.
“My team have done a fantastic job at being able to produce a car and setups that can win in any conditions which we have proven over the last couple of months in Sydney and Perth .”
“As well as the Funny Car though we will also be contesting the Pro Stock Bike bracket at the event with Pete Cochrane riding the teams S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell.”
“After taking his first win last time out I know Pete is excited about hitting the track again as he is now only 10 points off the top of the table and can also take the lead with another good result here.”
