BAYTOWN, Texas – Slowed by an electrical problem on Friday’s opening round of qualifying for Sunday’s Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway, Steve Torrence and the Capco Racing/Tuttle Motorsports Top Fuel team bounced back with a time of 4.017 seconds at 273.77 mph that was 12th quickest.
“There wasn’t much we could do on the first run,” Torrence said. “But it was a good feeling to come back and get down the track the second time. We’ll keep chipping away at the tune-up and try to make it better on our two runs on Saturday.”
On the first run, Torrence coasted to the finish in 8.832 seconds at 72.87 mph.
