NORWALK, Ohio – It’s a new week and the time is right for Greg Stanfield and the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks GXP Pro Stock team to go into their resiliency mode at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals, June 24-26.
Stanfield is determined to bounce back from an opening-round loss Sunday at Bristol, Tenn. that dropped him from second to fourth place (617 points) in the hotly-contested top 10. This is the 10th of 16 regular-season Full Throttle Drag Racing Series races leading to the deciding Countdown to the Championship’s final six events.
“We are ready to get back to the track,” said team crew chief Eddie Guarnaccia, who was analyzing the computer data following the rain-plagued race. “There was a lot of shuffling around (in the standings) on Sunday. There isn’t much you can do after a race like that. You just go on to the next one.”
Stanfield’s consistent performances – he’s been among the top four teams all season – have come from what Guarnaccia called a “real good baseline” combination. “We are always trying to do things to make us better,” he said. “For example, I’m going to be more aggressive (in the tune-up) for Friday’s (qualifying) sessions.”
