UDDS CREEK, Md. (July 8, 2011) – Racers fortunate enough to visit victory lane at this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular at Maryland International Raceway will walk away with a special edition Ironman made specifically for this race honoring the 40 year history of the International Hot Rod Association.
Oh, and winners will also pocket a cool $5,000 for a win in each IHRA class.
The special edition Ironman celebrates the 40th anniversary of the International Hot Rod Association
Racing will be contested in IHRA’s regular Summit Pro-Am touring classes of Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod, along with competition in Top ET, Mod ET and Junior Dragster. The race is open to all racers regardless of affiliation with $5,000 going to class winners, along with the special edition Ironman, national event contingency and a spot in the year-end Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions for IHRA members.
Racing will get underway Saturday morning with qualifying throughout the day followed by round one eliminations and buy backs Saturday evening. The action will continue on Sunday with eliminations throughout the day capped off with the crowning of champions in all 10 classes.
Admission is free for all spectators as the IHRA celebrates 40 years of championship drag racing with the biggest sportsman race in the history of the IHRA this weekend at Maryland International Raceway.
