[coverattach=1]BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Sept. 2, 2009) -- A special-edition gold chrome U.S. Army-themed Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher Impact! Racing helmet will be auctioned during the Don Schumacher Racing Open House on Friday, Sept. 4, to benefit Riley Children’s Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children.

Schumacher, a seven-time U.S. Nationals winner in the Top Fuel category, is eager to showcase the new design, created by Steve Dekkenga of S.D. Enterprises Paint and Graphics in Spring Lake, Mich., who has designed a number of DSR race-car and helmet schemes. “This is a great looking helmet. Steve really did a knock-out job with the gold chrome.

“It is a one-of-a-kind helmet, and hopefully when I hand it off on Monday night to the auction winner, it will be a monumental race-winner helmet.” The six-time world champion is looking to tie the iconic Don Garlits for the most Top Fuel U.S. Nationals victories (eight).

The auction winner will also receive two reserved-seat tickets and DSR hospitality for Monday final eliminations at the this year’s U.S. Nationals event. The helmet and paint donations assure 100 percent of the auction proceeds will be donated to Riley Children’s Foundation.

The Open House is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. It will feature a Car and Motorcycle show, Vintage Nitro Car “Cacklefest”, driver autographs, and a racing-themed memorabilia raffle.
