Drag-racing biopic set
Stephen Nemeth, Robin Broidy to produce 'Snake and Mongoose'
By Justin Kroll

Drag racing rivals Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen, left, and Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, will be the subjects of a indie biopic.
Stephen Nemeth and Robin Broidy will produce "Snake and Mongoose," a biopic centered on the drag-racing rivalry between Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen.
Producers acquired the life-story rights to the racing rivals and will produce through Nemeth's Rhino Films and Broidy's newly formed Storywise Prods.

One of the keys to the acquisition was a partnership with the NHRA, which gave the producers access to archival footage.

Commercials director Wayne Holloway will helm, with Alan Paradise penning the script. Paradise and Leslie Castanuela will exec produce and Charlie Katz, Eddie Michaels and Betsy Stahl will co-produce.

Pic will not only tell the story of the rivalry, but delves into how the two revolutionized the sport in the '70s by enticing toymaker Mattel into making its then-new Hot Wheels the sport's first major corporate sponsor.

The film will begin shooting this fall, and marks the first fully financed pic from Storywise.
