It's the Golden Rule, those with the Gold make the rules. In other words,he brought money to the table.

OK . . .I'm confused! Did Brogdon pay Charter to put their name on the car?
I think Brogdon now has a connection with Cagnazzi, who I have heard has a connection with Charter. Of course Roger already had some sponsorship and a few bucks of his own, which Dave did not.
Did I explain all of that to everyones' satisfaction? - ;)

......well Jim, you did pretty good for being confused :D

Rodger has the money to run the the car.....He is just filling the gaps Charter can't pay.

As far as I know, it's he's not even driving an in house built Cagnazzi car, he's still driving a different car, just a VC engine.

Steve,

The Charter Communications contract/sponsorship is very unique in that there isn't the "we pay you, for you to do this" type of contract. To that end there isn't "up front" money to put a car/team on the track, that has to come from somewhere else, in this case, team owner Steve Kent & his wife Trudy. By flying the Charter Communications colors, it opens up some unique marketing opportunities that we are really just starting to explore, and I do believe that there will be some interesting developments in both the near & distant future that will bring some new faces to NHRA, because of the Charter Communications opportunities.

The team started leasing the engine that was available (not being used in the Charter Cobalt) early this season. With the success that the team had the powers that be (Cagnazzi, Kent, & Brogdon) worked out a deal to wrap their PONTIAC in Charter colors for the rest of the year, starting @ Atlanta,,,,,, (you would be surprised at the number of people that come by and still ask about the Cobalt we're running),,,,,,,

When you stop and consider that as a team with Tommy Utt & 'Weasel' joining us less than a dozen races to go, we've really started to come together as a unit and I think the ability to run the SIX on the mountain shows the potential that the team has. Trust me, we're all anxious to see what can be done during the second half of the season.

The fact that Rodger Brogdon and Steve Kent are now the driving force behind the Charter Communications car being on track has nothing to do with Dave C, but is simply a business contract that benefits those involved.

Hope this helps answer 'why' for some of you.

Please, do stop by and say HI when you're at a race, Rodger, Steve and the rest of the team, F.J. 'Dr Phil' Acosta, J Allan Sherman, Jerry Eckman (yes THAT Jerry Eckman), D2 hall of famer Jerry Coley and I would love to meet you.

Unk

PS, I say boy, better be payin attention, cause we're gonna be have'n some more fun with the Rooster.......
