Rivas Barely Misses the Countdown

After an emotional rain filled week in Reading, Penn., Chris Rivas and his Torco Race Fuels Buell come away with mixed emotions.

Running well during qualifying over the weekend, Rivas was looking forward to raceday. With the rain setting in and the Toyo Tire Nationals being forced to start on Monday, Rivas would soon get his shot at the eighth spot in the Countdown.

Squaring off against one of the riders fighting for their spot in the Countdown, Craig Treble; Rivas knew it was now or never. Cutting a great light and running well, Rivas would get the win and advance to the second round.

Facing off against another rider fighting for their spot in the Countdown, Peggy Llewellyn; Rivas knew this round was huge. Leaving on Llewellyn eight hundredths, Rivas managed to hang on for the holeshot win and advance to his second semi-final of the year.

As Rivas would head into the semi’s, he would only stand 11 points out of the top-eight. All he needed to do was go one more round and he would secure a spot in the Countdown.

Having to wait two more days, in order to see what the outcome would be, Rivas was more than ready for the marquee match-up.

Rivas would face Matt Guidera. As Rivas would cut yet another great light, but as his bike would not shift into high gear, Rivas would end up losing the round.

“I really wanted to win that round,” said Rivas. “Not only because of the Countdown, but I want to make it to the finals. Evan and Matt have a great team over here and I really wanted to get it for them. We did though run very well this weekend, so we are happy about that.”
