I seen the thread an had to chime in, Tim and the guys over at Piston Driven are friends of mine so I asked Tim about the OCIR question here's his response:

"it is not always the intent to make every shirt or design period correct.

the fact that OCIR had an indy type car on it was not really in the spirit of drag racing. they thought they would have many types of racing and never did. just drag racing.

so we are about more than just printing another copy of a race track name or logo.

more detailed embellishment, high quality 100% american made cotton."

Check out all of there designs including some really cool Car Craft and SEMA shirts. the web site is Piston Driven : Vintage Motorsport Apparel and Signs

I wish I knew where to get one of those "Don't be a Victim" T-Shirts that showed a young Ed "The Ace" McCulloch knocking the snot out of somebody. That would rule.

I think Capps paid to have a limited private run of those made; just for his inner circle. Although I did find one on eBay a few months back. It sold for $18 bux if I recall correctly. Someone that got one from the first run sold it! Unbelievable!
What's worse, is I bid on it and didn't win.

And it was Gordon Mineo that was also in that pic.

I had often wondered about the OCIR logo and the Indy Car.

Thw Indy cay did not fit the drag race facility, but that became the logo.

I doubt anyone owns those logos because there are many vendors at both CHHR and the March Meet that sell shirts from all of the old tracks with the correct logos.
