[coverattach=1]After a few long weeks of repairs since the crash involving the team’s 1941 Willys, Red Eagle Racing is ready to get back to action this weekend at Maple Grove, PA. The team will once again be competing in the Super Chevy Nitro Coupe class.
Over the past few weeks, the team has spent countless hours at Webber Engineering in Pawcatuck, CT. Ken Webber has been the go-to guy for Red Eagle Racing for many years when it comes to chassis repairs and inspections.
“I’ve really got to thank Ken Webber for working with us on short notice and putting in the amount of hours needed to help get us back out racing”, states team owner and driver Paul Athey. “Ken, myself, my dad and John Cardoza have worked tirelessly to get the car ready. After consulting with Tommy Mauney on the new Willy’s front end now available, we not only gained an aerodynamic advantage with the body, but also were able to make some positive changes to the front structure of the car.”
“Ken did an excellent job of making sure everything on the car is perfect again before heading back out to race. His shop utilizes all of the latest state of the art equipment and he has an excellent history and reputation in the Northeast for his quality of work.”
Red Eagle Racing would also like to thank Ricky Foy for getting the car into his paint shop and getting it done so quickly as well. /Stop by and check us out in the pits at Maple Grove!
Please visit the team’s website for more info: Welcome to Red Eagle Racing
Paul Athey and Red Eagle Racing would also like to thank the following partners: Mohegan Sun, West Coast Choppers, Salvadore Auto, Webber Engineering, Red Line Oil, Moroso, VP Race Fuels, Computech Transmissions, Fragola Perfomance Systems and FK Bearings.
Wild Wednesday Party's at Mohegan Sun:
Every Wednesday from now until Labor Day, Mohegan Sun will be having their weekly Wild Wednesday party. This event is fun-filled with proceeds benefitting different charities.
The Wild Wednesday events feature a fireman’s cook-off, battle of the bands, live radio station telecasts, a farmer’s market showcasing the region’s freshest foods, a car show and a race car area showing some of the various race vehicles on the Mohegan Sun team. At the end of each Wednesday night, you’ll find a spectacular fireworks display which is always one of the best in the region. For race cars, you’ll find the 1941 Willy’s Pro Modified driven by Paul Athey at these events weekly along with Scott Hall’s Top Dragster, Frank Grillo’s Hot Rod Camaro and cars from other racing circuits.
This Wednesday will also be the first public appearance of Paul’s 1941 Willy’s since being repaired after an accident in Norwalk, OH a couple of weeks ago. The car suffered front end damage when driver Paul Athey had to nose the car into the wall to avoid t-boning Randy Adler who lost control of his Nitro Coupe just past the finish line in a very close race. The Willy’s now sports the latest front end design and some enhancements to the Tommy Mauney built chassis.
If you’re looking for something exciting to do on a Wednesday night (or any night), Mohegan Sun is the place to be!
