CAYUGA, ONTARIO (September 20, 2011) – The season-ending event in the inaugural Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products was held at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, and a new race winner was declared along with the 2011 champion.
Ted Glinny won the sixth and final PBSS race of the season at Cayuga, and Randy Hope is the series’ champion.
Riding his Kawasaki Ninja, Glinny, of Milton, Ontario defeated Suzuki rider Stewart of Toronto, Ontario in the final round. Both compete in the Pro Bike division. Glinny qualified fourth in the race with an 8.726, 141.70 run and stayed consistent through the rounds, winning with an 8.72, 141.46 over Stewart’s 9.48, 135.71.
“You get lucky once in a while,” said a pleased Glinny after the race. “We were good all day. We re-dialed earlier and tried to stay consistent.”
John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario qualified his Pro Bike Suzuki in top spot with a 7.824, 165.84 posting. Stewart, who qualified in 11th spot, eliminated Orfanidis in second round racing.
In the semi-finals, Stewart won over Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario on his Pro Bike Suzuki, while Glinny eliminated Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario on his Pro Sled Arctic Cat Z-1.
Randy Hope, of London, Ontario, had the PBSS 2011 Championship Point Award Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products in hand before the final race of the year.
Riding his Kawasaki in Pro Bike, Hope won two events in 2011, and placed first in the standings with 1211 points. Cryderman, with one win to his credit this season, took second place with 1137 points. Third with 1085 points was Anderson, who also recorded one victory in 2011. Pro Sled rider James Miller of Orillia, Ontario placed fourth with 1025 points, and Orfanidis took fifth spot with 980 points.
The Annual "Night of Champions" Championship Point Award Series Banquet for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) will be held at the Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
