Rain Brings on the Pressure for Team T.A.R.E.

(10-4-2006) DINWIDDIE, VA. – Joey Martin and team T.A.R.E. have been a force to reckon with this year in the NHRA AMS Promod Series and in the ADRL series, tallying five victories and three runner-up finishes. Their performance has placed them at the forefront of the championship battle in both series for 2006. Martin entered this weekend's NHRA event eager to improve his position in the fight, but those hopes were dashed as word came that the event was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The T.A.R.E. (Tindle-Ashley Racing Enterprises) team trails current points leader Jay Payne by 13 points, less than one round of competition. Now with only one race left, the championship will be decided at the season finale in Las Vegas.

"I hate that it had to come to this. There will be a lot of pressure going into Las Vegas," Chuck Ford said. "It can be any man's race at any point in time."

With the stakes up, Ford and the rest of the TARE team will now shift their focus to the single most important race of the season. In 2004, Chuck Ford was titled Crew Chief of the Year and won two consecutive Promod Championships with Mike Ashley behind the wheel. Now, Joey Martin is looking to extend the team's streak to three by winning his first National Championship in promod.
