I always predict rain on the Pomona dates. Months in advance. My friends are amazed at how much of the time I'm right.

That is a really rare forecast for the Pomona Finals. We very rarely get rain in Nov. It is always a dry, clear day. I even call it "Finals weather". For the old Winternationals dates, yes. That race has had some days at least partially rained out over the many years of the Winternats. But not on the November dates in So CA.

I went to the 1987 Finals and it was rained off till the following weekend. Had to re-book my flight home till the next week.

On the other hand, I've been to several Finals when the surrounding hills have been ablaze, with smoke obscuring the horizon. They could have used some rain then, though I'm glad not on the track

Going to be a lot of "Hurry up and wait" going on. I can imagine with Thursday being the only day that looks like any racing might happen they are going to try and complete as much Sportsman competition as possible with I imagine only giving one qualifier/time trial run and then straight into eliminations. Also do the classes with championships still up for grabs get priority over other classes?

Im also kind of curious on how with the banquet scheduled for Monday night and the very real possibility that the event may not be completed by then how they go about cancelling/rescheduling the banquet. I know thats probably secondary right now but that is an interesting scenario.

I was planning on Thur-Sun, but I just decided to cancel this morning. Like you, it's also just a 4-hour drive for me but with a 90% chance of rain on Friday and Saturday, and 70% on Sunday, it just seems so unlikely there will be any racing going on except Thursday.

It was only Phoenix this year because Homestead is undergoing a renovation. So they moved the Homestead race up in the schedule this year to give them more time to complete the project. The finale will be back at Homestead next year.
