POINTS-LEADER FULLER DRIVES WAGNER CAT DRAGSTER TO PROVISIONAL NO. 2 POSITION FRIDAY AT DENVER

MORRISON, Colo . (July 13, 2007) – While he didn’t finish atop the provisional Top Fuel qualifying order, points leader Rod Fuller powered his Wagner CAT rail to the second quickest pass of the day on Friday at Bandimere Speedway.

The four-time NHRA Top Fuel winner, who has earned three poles this season, is again flying the yellow-and-black colors of Caterpillar this weekend at the 28th annual Mile-High Nationals. The Las Vegas racer used a tune-up from crew chief Rob Flynn to pace the Top Fuel field on his opening run of the weekend. Fuller sped to a run of 4.615 seconds at 319.75 mph to lead the pack after the first of four scheduled qualifying runs.

Following at brief rain delay, the duo of Fuller and Flynn aimed to set the eight-year-old track elapsed time record (4.584 seconds) on Friday’s second qualifying effort. Fuller was on a spectacular pass until the Wagner CAT car did a wheel stand forcing Fuller to lift off the throttle and coast to a run of 5.557 at 150.70. He finished second in the 16-car order. Fuller has yet to qualify lower than fourth this season.

“We might not have set the track record, but we won the crowd over,” Fuller said. “They knew the car was going to run fast, but a wind gust came through and lifted the front end up and luckily I caught it in time and sat it down as easily as I could. It definitely got my attention. The car was going to set the track record, but the car is in one piece and I know and all the fans know who the fastest car on the property is.”

Top Fuel qualifying resumes on Saturday afternoon with sessions scheduled for 2 and 5 p.m. (MT) at Bandimere Speedway. ESPN2 will televise two hours of qualifying highlights at 6 p.m. (ET).
