[coverattach=1](9-29-09) Greensboro, NC - The wait is almost over for Piedmont Dragway's most anticipated event of the year. Three solid days of action will be on tap this weekend, Oct 1, 2 & 3 where $50,000 is on the line in Piedmont's incredible North vs South Big Dog Shootout. The headlining attraction brings 8 of the hottest cars north of the Mason Dixon Line to face 8 of the baddest hot rods from the south. Along with bragging rights, the prize consists of the largest purse Piedmont Dragway pays out for any single event - a whopping $50,000.
Along with the headlining Big Dog event, the popular Renegade series will also be on hand for all 3 days of the event, as well as the Quick-32 Doorslammers. A brand new attraction for this weekend's event will be the HED 275 Drag Radial class, which competes heads-up. This exciting class can be seen all 3 days of the event with shakedown runs on Thursday, followed by qualifying on Friday and eliminations on Saturday.
On Friday night, fans will get a sample of the head to head action with what Piedmont describes as a "Dog Fight". With $500 worth of bonus money going to the winner, the #1 qualifier from the north will face the #1 qualifier from the south. This format of eliminations will continue down the qualifying ladder all the way to the #8 pairing of cars. This dog fight style of eliminations will also be featured in the Renegade series on Friday night as a special bonus.
On Saturday afternoon, competitors will get one last qualifying shot down Piedmont's 1/8 mile. Final eliminations in all classes will begin at 3:00pm on Saturday.
