That's great except for one thing, their biz model supposedly includes event sponsorship but not cars, and I thought the NHRA mandates that in order to sponsor a race you have to back a team as well? Having said that, I am happy that they a backing several races.
This is my first post after years of lurking. When I saw this, I turned to my wife (who's a fan) and told her that I hope the NHRA isn't setting themselves up like the numerous teams that took money from Torco. Granted, I probably wouldn't turn down money for a race team (if I owned one) or for an event if I was a sanctioning body. But, by my count this makes 6 events on the tour. In my opinion this is lopsided and could give O'Reilly undue sway in the decision making process of a sanctioning body. And heaven forbid, if O'Reilly suddenly shakes up their mangagement and the high and mighty doesn't see the value in drag racing, that leaves the NHRA in a terrible lurch. Just my 2 pennies worth.
They did, but they didn't change the CSK's & Murray's name's to O'Reilly's. Torco sponsored races, and cars, but were not the official fuel supplier of the NHRA, while VP doesn't sponsor races, or cars but they are the official NHRA fuel supplier, "fuel" for thought huh.
