GRAND BEND, ONT. – Robert Patrick nailed down the third quickest spot in what promises to be the quickest-ever field in the history of the Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock during first day qualifying at the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario.
Patrick’s Purvis Ford-sponsored Shelby Cobra SVT laid down a 6.352 elapsed time at over 218 miles per hour to earn a solid berth early in the sixteen-car field.
“We didn’t want to get greedy, but we wanted to get everything we could at the first hit because that’s what you build on,” Patrick said. “It’s like a stepping stone. You don’t want to leave anything on the table but there’s a fine line in knowing where your limit is. I am happy with what we did tonight.”
Patrick reached the final round last year in Grand Bend with the Shelby Cobra SVT in its debut.
