[coverattach=1]POMONA, Calif. – After getting on a hot streak of final rounds in the middle of the season, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Sean O’Bannon and the Tequila Patrón/Forest River RV’s team are looking to finish the year strong at one of their home events, this weekend’s Auto Club Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona. O’Bannon enters the event ranked ninth nationally and hopes a strong showing will solidify a top ten national finish.
O’Bannon, 30, from nearby Ontario, Calif., is not only looking for the points, but hopes a strong finish will give the team momentum going into next season.
“Basically we’re just looking for a turnaround from the past few races,” said O’Bannon. “We have kind of gotten into a slump the last few races. This is our home track and we have a lot of guests this weekend.
“We have to go past the semi’s to pick up any points,” O’Bannon stated. “It’s not just the points. We want to have a strong weekend to go into the offseason. When you finish the year off strong, everyone has a little more pep in their step over the winter. Needless to say, a win would be huge.”
Qualifying begins on Thursday for the alcohol cars, with two more sessions on Friday. Eliminations begin with round one on Saturday and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
Simply Perfect in every way, Patrón is the world’s No. 1 selling ultra-premium tequila.
