KING, NC (August 21, 2011) – After a semi-final appearance the last time out in Sonoma, Angie Smith was hoping for more this weekend in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Qualifying in the 13th spot, Smith had to face the 2010 Champion of LE Tonglet first round.
The drag racing beauty did what she does best and left on the Champ, however Tonglet would outrun Smith by the time the two crossed the finish line.
“I’m definitely bummed,” said Angie Smith. “I came into Brainerd with high hopes. No one ever wants to lose first round. We will be fine, got a few things to tweak, but we will be ready for the big one at Indy.”
The 2011 Full Throttle NHRA Series will run again in two weeks at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana.
