Thanks for the post Darr.

Paul, our buddy Mr. Stepp was a crewman for Mark Vaught, the winner of Pro Comp 1. Here's what the copy said for the final:
Pro Comp I:
W: Mark Vaught, Crawfordsville, IN, F.E.D. 8.884 at 191.40
RU: Don Slagle, Mt Lebanon, PA, F.E.D. (broke)

And for the best part, in a "qualifying" session
The Chi-Town Hustler and the Motown Shaker put on a GREAT show. After long smoky burnouts the 2 floppers backed up to the line. As they approached the start line the fans were treated to 3 dry hops. I thought I was back in the 70s. The run wasn't all it could have been but it was still the best FC run I've seen since....well...I don't know since when. Just a very long time.

Bob, thanks for the kind words.....i crew on the Chi-Town FC and we always do our best to put on a good show for the fans......we were on a low 6 second pace on that run until about a 1000 foot when the motor went lean and rods decided they were no longer happy being inside the block and went BOOM! We swapped motors out to get ready for Sunday but we just couldn't get it right so we had to call it a weekend :(
