I'm normally not a big bike fan but, its always exciting to see a racer get his first win so a big congrats to Hector. As for GA, a few races ago when he and Jason barely qualified on the bottom half of the ladder, alot of people considered him 'caught up to' by the competition and pretty much an 'also ran', but the last couple races proves the summit boys are right back at or near the top !

We were standing in line for the famous ice cream on Saturday night, and there was a guy in a Lucas shirt in front of us. We figured he worked for Lucas, so we started asking him questions. He proceeds to tell us how he bought a vehicle with a bad trans, put Lucas product in it, and has gotten 32,000 more miles out of it so far. We chatted until we all got our ice cream, and then went our seperate ways. Sunday evening after the race we go down for the presentation of the Wally's, and Hector comes up on stage and my buddy says "That looks like the guy from the ice cream line last night". I agree that it did look like him, then Hector starts talking and we realize it was him! As we were leaving after the presentations we got a good laugh out of it. We were wondering if Hector thought we were dumbasses for not knowing who he was, or if he was glad we didn't know and didn't bug him for autographs and crap.

Congrats Hector!

Hector is all about racing, he could care less about stardom.
I met him in Pomona '07 when he stayed for the AHDRA race.
Had a great time racing against him, just couldn't give him enough competition.
Since then we talk a couple times a month.
Hector works hard to make improvements.
I'm am glad to see him get that Wally.:)

Hector's a very good guy. He certainly has the fire in his belly - just look at how long he's been working at winning a race. He never gave up.

I remember talking to him a few years ago in Joliet. He was a very sharp, down to earth guy who was telling me how tough it was for a single-bike team to get the "good" parts.

He wasn't whining, just talking about the difficulties a low buck racer faced. For instance, he talked about cylinder head work. Back then, all the bikes were Suzukis and the flow was critical. He mentioned that two major events had affected his program, neither of them good.

The first was when he spent a year's savings on a set of "trick" heads that he found later were another team's year-old castoffs. That's what happened when you were not in the inner circle.

The second thing was when he rigged up a flow bench and after months of experimentation found an area which showed promise. When he went to one of the leading head porters to have a set made with his new ideas, it was only two races before his competition was buying the same heads.

Again, he was not telling a sob story in any way. He impressed the heck out of me with his devotion and determination and it's really great to see him win after all this time.

so instead of making sure the casual fan knows he's a PSB racer,
he instead selfishly touts his sponsor's products.

that's the kind of person who's beneficial in any relationship.
congratulations hector!

As soon as Hector went to the Semi's - I was pulling for him hard core! My wife was asking me "what's so special about that guy?" I tried explaining to her that he just wanted his 1st win, and I was hoping he got it, but she just thought I was a nut.

Congrats Hector - really glad you got the Wally! I wish you could have talked on ESPN all day.

big congrats to hector and the team, what a great story! i hope he gets many more, as for pro stock, greg anderson again proved to be a class guy in an emotional race giving his trophy to scott kallitas son, and many of you had him dead and buried and giving K.J the championship, kurt still has the mph no doubt, but that 2 in a row and a 52 point lead for greg, and a 4 year extension with summit! great job by greg who drove awesome agian.

Is Jeff Prock still turning the wrenches on Hector's bike? I didn't see him on the starting line.
