CLERMONT, Ind., (Sept. 3, 2006) – Doug Kalitta, driver of the special one-off edition, 8,000-horsepower Foose Design/Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, will begin final eliminations at the most prestigious drag racing event in the world, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, from the lofty No. 3 spot on the qualifying ladder in Clermont, Ind., just west of downtown Indianapolis.
Doug, who enters tomorrow’s Labor Day eliminations with a 134-point lead in POWERade championship points, posted a best lap of 4.497 seconds at 322.65 mph in five qualifying attempts. He will race No. 14 (4.581 sec., 327.11 mph) qualifier David Baca in the opening round. Doug will have lane choice over Baca.
