I just finished the National Dragster piece on Ned Walliser and I have to give props (note the day and time) Walliser and his staff for doing a little looking up the road and planning. His ideas on engine restriction and engine reliability are definitely on the right track. Since NHRA is holding firm to their long time philosophy of not paying sufficient prize money(Robert Post, High Performance-The Culture and Technology of Drag Racing 1950-1990, p.100) to make racing with them profitable, mandating reliability seems to be the next best option.
