Time to resurrect an old thread.

I just watched the first round of Comp at the Gators. Eight of eleven pairs had drivers shutting off at the 1,000 ft mark. I'm assuming they're protecting their index and saving parts. However, it doesn't make for interesting racing. Is there a solution to this? Are CIC penalties too harsh? I read the info at the link posted by 'the other Brent'. Any thoughts?

I heard a rumor that in order to save the index, racers agree to shut off at 1000' and whoever gets to finish line first wins. Any truth to that?

Thats just absurd. Lets go racing!

My opinion is the CIC should be in place, but start with a warning the first offence, followed by a penalty starting at an arbitrary # .53-.55

Currently only racing to finish line is Division 4 qualifying shootout. In qualifying rounds cars race each other, with handicap. Winner farthest under index gets more than NHRA divisional purse. Go to insidecompracing.com details there. Was involved in comp car for a few years and when personal indexes instituted around 2016,(participation trophy) stopped racing went top dragster. And car I worked on qualified number 1 at maple Grove national event, so we learned how comp became a bracket race, Stand on the brakes at 200mph not fun
