(8-29-2010) San Diego, Ca – Dan Myers recently completed the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s version of a “western swing” last weekend with his attendance at Bandimere Speedway during a Super Chevy Show event which the WCOPMA were booked in to headline.

On the first qualifying pass Dan made it down the track, in the 9,000+ feet of corrected elevation, with a 6.68 on an early lifting run. He had to abort the run around the 1,000 foot mark as one of the welds on his dry sump oil tank split and put all the oil onto the track and shutoff area, in the process a piston was burnt and some other engine parts were hurt. The team had to weld the oil tank and fix the engine between qualifying rounds and failed to make the call for the second qualifying session.

On the third, and final, qualifying session Dan made it off the line and to half track but lifted shortly after as he felt the car driving through the clutch. He clicked it off knowing he wouldn’t improve on his first qualifying session time, so the 6.68 from the first session would leave him on the bump in the 8th spot which was the quickest 8-car qualified Pro Mod field for Bandimere Speedway!

Dan would face Bret Williamson in the first round of eliminations for the second event and weekend in a row. The prior weekend Williamson beat Dan in Boise, so Dan wanted revenge in Denver. Off the line and past the 330’ mark Dan lead, but after half track Bret took the lead and lead all the way to the finish line for the win. Dan did improve his best time for the weekend with a 6.54 @ 213.06; also lifting a little early as his low MPH indicates. Dan thinks it could’ve been a 6.48-6.50 pass if he ran it out the back door.

Dan wants to thank his crew for the awesome job they did in Boise and Denver on back-to-back events! There was a lot of hard work and thrashing to be done and the crew never backed down from the challenge’s and got the car to the line when it needed to be. His crew consisted of his brother Herb Schley, son’s Brandon and Jeffrey Myers, Bill Fox, his wife Carolyn and tuning assistance from Lonnie Houde and Bob Bunker Jr.

The next event for Dan Myers Racing will be at Sacramento Raceway on September 24-25 with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association yet again. It will be the WCOPMA’s final event for the 2010 season and Dan is currently sitting 4th in points, just 11 points behind 3rd place Jay Diedrich and 16 points behind 2nd place Rod Burbage. Dan is hoping to finish in the top 3 when it’s all said and done and a good showing at Sacramento will do just that!
