Joe Mulligan and Jeff Lamantia debuted one of the most eye catching cars that the Pro Modified class has seen in quite some time. A 1968Cynergy Composites bodied Camaro was the choice for the new Pro Mod team from Midland Park, New Jersey. Mulligan, a seasoned driver in the Top Dragster class, would have Mike Janis from Jan-Cen Racing Engines build them a BAE Hemi Engine and also provide some initial consulting to the team in the early stages of testing and competition. The team’s attention to detail and appearance is high on the list of importance as well as performance. That led them to Jim Salemi from G-Force Race Cars Inc. Mulligan stated, “I have used Mike Janis for my engine program for the couple of years in my Altered I ran in Top Dragster and he suggested that we talk to G-Force about a new car. It was a perfect fit. The two companies are close to each other and it really worked out well. Jim really builds a beautiful car that works well; it felt like a Cadillac even at 220 mph. His attention to detail is second
to none and I commend him for taking pride in his trade and being a true
craftsman”.
Although the new team did not post any jaw dropping numbers, they made huge strides and worked on having what it takes to be a contender in Pro Mod. Crew chief Jeff Lamantia said, “We tested at Farmington the day before Rockingham to just get Joe comfortable with a car that has suspension and a clutch. He adapted very well. We did post a .971 60 ft. time during testing, which is promising. We became better as a team on every run down the racetrack. We look forward to the rest of the season and making the progress that we know we are capable of. We really want to thank Jim Salemi from G-Force Race Cars inc., and Mike Janis Sr., as well as Mike Jr.from Jan-Cen Racing Engines. Without these guys, this would still be just a dream”.
The Mulligan Motorsports team plans to compete at most of the IHRA National Event races and AMS Pro Mod races throughout the 2007 eason.
The team gives great thanks to the following people and companies: Jan-Cen Racing Engines, G-Force Race Cars Inc, Scott Jahren Paint, Genua and Mulligan Printing Corp. (Minuteman Press, LAS Printing, Paradigmgraphics, and Finishline graphics.net) Jersey City. Most thanks to the Crew: Jeff LaMantia, Tom LaMantia, Kim McKean, Mike Viglietta, and Marion Murray.
