The 2011 Pro Slammers Door Car Association racing season is half way through and 2010 champion is in the lead. Mike Doushgounian went into last weekends Door Car Nationals at Sacramento Raceway leading the points only by 40 but by the end of the event he put a little more cushion between him and the rest of the 7.00 Pro Slammers. Mike was #1 qualifier with a 7.011 after the two sessions ended and he just wouldn't let up. He and crew members Brad and Bob laid down a string of 7.00s all through eliminations. Most of the motivation came from the chance of winning a prestigious NHRA Wally at this special event.
"I told my crew earlier in the week that we were going to do everything we could to win that Wally", said Mike Doushgounian. Nick named Mr. Tricks, Mike brought a full bag of them and a little magic to the show as he downed some of the best in the class on his way to the winner's circle. In the finals it was a classic nitrous vs. blower match up and once the dust settled it would be Mr. Tricks in his blown 1967 Nova taking the win with a 7.06 over a tire spinning Mike Henry in his 1981 Camaro. Not only is Mike the points leader and reigning champion but he is also the president of the association.
He has spent a lot of time putting together one of the best heads-up index associations on the West Coast that continues to grow despite the tough economic times we are in. He says it's the best class a working man can compete in without breaking the bank. We look forward to seeing more of the Pro Slammers for years to come. The team would like to thank: Pro Cal Truck Repair, Road Rider Motor Cycle Accessories and DXL Transport
