ATLANTA (April 25, 2008) -- With day one of qualifying in the books for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals Terry McMillen finds himself in the middle of the pack with the 12th position locked down after Friday's attempts.
"On the first pass the grove was pretty narrow and I got out of it, so that was all my fault," McMillen explained.
The second pass on Friday solidified McMillen's position after he pedaled his way to a 4.827 elapsed time at 315.19 MPH.
"We're trying out a few different things on the nose of the car," McMillen said. "The car carried the front wheels for a long way and I had to pedaled it just a little bit so that I could get those front tires on the ground. The car was drifting a little so I had to do something to keep it in the groove."
"If we get another shot at it I think we can get this car well into the top half of the field."
