Too bad the NHRA's "testing" rules will not allow that.

Sure it will... He'll run the IHRA series, hopefully with even better results than last season, and come over to the NHRA series from Feb to Sept in what may be short fields and possibly make it into the Countdown, even with points dings being levied after his 4 IHRA events, because as we all know, even if you have 50 points and are in 10th place, you're still part of the "excitement generated by the Countdown"

If he's doing well, think he could convince his sponsor to pick up the cash fines that could be levied too? ;)

He then takes a page from the Pedregon playbook and goes on a Sept-Nov tear, and with Dixon and Shoe meeting in early rounds, along with all the "testing" that he's been doing all season on the IHRA tour, and the next thing we know, he's hoisting TWO big cardboard checks....:D

Hey, stranger things have happened... Chris Cook- PM me... I need to place a season bet at Station Casino!! I have a dollar....:D

Can't happen. The moment, he runs the second IHRA event, he falls into docked points category for each violation. He will have to forfeit the next race points. There won't be a monetary fine as he is considered an IHRA car.

Drag Racing Internet Magazine - Competition Plus.com - LIGHT: BAN INCLUDES IHRA RACES

Aww- come on Bobby- can't a guy dream a bit and get a giant smile thinking "what could be"? :D

(Yeah, I spaced that he'd have a qualifing day in there too..)

I was hoping something like this would emerge.

Now you know the nice little by product of the "NHRA's Testing Ban."

No way will one team ever be IHRA and NHRA Champ in one year. Not that it probably would ever happen. But it would've been cool to see someone try.

jan. 6th in a letter published on bobby's site, mr. archambeau from nhra
was quoted................
Archambeault explained, limiting the number of qualifying runs lowers the ticket value. A lower ticket value affects the purse structure. A lower purse structure further affects many of the teams who are already cash-strapped. A purse restructure would adversely affect those regional racers who attend a limited amount of events.

well.............what's it's gonna' be?
money? or testing rules? that may prevent "regional" racers from
participating in NHRA events.

oh, i get it; it's both :o ...........whatever.

"Per the NHRA regulations, a team would be able to run one IHRA event and remain within the guidelines of the testing regulations. After one day of the second event, they would be in violation." - Quoted from Bobby's article.

I don't understand this. Aren't IHRA events usually only 2 days for TF/FC? So wouldn't teams be allowed to run 2 IHRA events before getting penalized?

A team could sit out Friday - and if they could qualify just on Saturday's runs - make 2 IHRA races and still be NHRA 'legal'.

We're were hoping that a 'part-time' team could declare themselves 'part-time NHRA' - submit their schedule to NHRA and be OK with the testing band.

I did not propose that to NHRA - but given what appeared over-whelming support from full-time NHRA teams, not worth 'stirring the pot'. Trying the old 'pick your battles wisely' approach.

This one's in the rule books and we've just got to make it a non issue. Go out and do the best we can, do well, and let the "what-ifs" become fun conversation.

I guess Rob Geiger doesn't read the Nitromater or Competition Plus.
This press release from Terry Mcmillan was posted on the Nitromater on December 15, 2008.

The NHRA announced Pro Nitro testing restrictions on January 23, 2009.
This press release was obviously written before the NHRA announced Pro Nitro testing restrictions.
Once again the chronic complainers on the Mater pass judgement without having all the facts.
