Maynard Family Finds NHRA Home with DSR as New Major Associate Partner

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 29, 2021)
– Don Schumacher Racing is pleased to welcome the addition of the Maynard family to its roster of partners. Drag racing enthusiasts Joe and Cathi Maynard are longtime NHRA fans and when they decided to take their passion for straight line racing to the next level and become personally involved with an NHRA team, linking up with drag racing’s winningest organization as a major associate partner was a natural fit.

Military veterans Joe and Cathi Maynard have an active interest in supporting various charitable organizations, particularly those with a military connection. The Maynards were aware of DSR’s history with the U.S. Army, as well as military-supporting organizations, including most notably, the Infinite Hero Foundation. As residents of Clarksville, Tenn., the Maynards have developed a friendship with fellow Clarksville residents and DSR friends, Gary and Mari Linfoot, who have become synonymous with the Infinite Hero Foundation among the drag racing community. The Linfoots introduced the Maynards to DSR, and a relationship quickly developed.

As a major associate partner of DSR, the Maynard family crest will be prominently featured on Leah Pruett’s Top Fuel dragster at all 2021 NHRA Camping World Series events. Additionally, the Maynards plan to use Pruett’s 11,000-horsepower machine to feature various charities throughout the season, including A Soldier’s Child and American Mobility Project, which will be displayed on the sides of Pruett’s Whisps Cheese Crisps dragster this weekend at the final running of the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.

“I’ve been an NHRA fan for about 50 years now. I took my wife to Bristol for her first NHRA outing back in 2011, and she instantly became hooked,” said Joe Maynard, owner of Echo Power Engineering, a company which provides emergency power systems to hospitals, hotels, NASA, and the Army Corps of Engineers, among others. “We love the intensity of 330-mile-per-hour racing and once we decided we wanted our involvement with the sport to progress from simply being avid fans to becoming a supporting partner, teaming up with DSR just made sense, especially given our connection to the military.

“Ultimately, we decided on Leah’s car to banner our cause because we love how she represents women in what is typically considered a male-dominated industry. As we seek to grow our family businesses, it’s important for us to keep our name out there, which is how we came to include our family crest on the car, and of course from the charitable aspect, anything we can do to bring attention to causes near and dear to us is so important.”

Pruett, an eight-time Top Fuel winner, is proud to welcome the Maynards to her team, and is looking forward to becoming involved with the family’s various ventures.

“The Maynard family has proven to be outstanding members of their community, and we are fortunate to now have them as members of our team,” she remarked. “Their commitment to the sport of drag racing through their involvement with us is beyond highly appreciated, and I look forward to making winning memories with Joe, Cathi, and the entire Maynard family.”

Leah Pruett and the Whisps Cheese Crisps Top Fuel team, with support from the Maynard family, will compete next at the NHRA Southern Nationals, May 1–2, at Atlanta Dragway, where Pruett returns as the 2018 event champ, and 2015 runner-up.
