Matt Smith and Nitrofish Team Up for 2008

After a very stressful and eventful month, the Champ, Matt Smith, has finally landed a sponsor. The 2007 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion has been on pins and needles for the last few weeks, wondering if he would be able to defend his title in 2008. With the help of Kenny Korestsky’s company, Nitrofish, Smith can now relive his dream.

“I am so relieved,” Smith said. “You have no idea how excited I am to be back racing. At this point last week, all I was going to race were the first few races, and now I am fully backed and can go out there and try and win this thing again. Kenny [Korestky] is amazing. Just when I was about to give up, he came to my rescue. This should be a very interesting year, and hopefully, we can put on another great show for all the NHRA fans.”

Koretsky called Smith last week and began negotiating figures. One thing led to another, and when all was said and done, he paired with Smith in his quest for the rider’s second NHRA Championship. This should be an unbelievable treat for the Nitrofish fans that have supported Kenny Koretsky Racing over the years.

“How could I pass it up?” Koretsky commented. “I mean, it is by far the best bang for your buck out here. Matt is the Champ. He is a very humble and hard-working young man, and I wanted to give him the opportunity to go out there and win again. I am very excited to be part of such an incredible team. The Smiths are great people. The have a family operation over there, and family is one thing that is very close to my heart.”

Smith will debut the Nitrofish machine March 13-16 at the Pro Stock Motorcycles season opener in Gainesville, Fla. Smith will carry the No. 1 on the side of his Nitrofish Buell for the first time in his career and has all hopes of keeping it there for a while.
