Joey Martin is eager to return to the driver’s seat of the Dozer Mustang this weekend at the Eastern Race Fuels Dragstock III, Rockingham , NC . Martin and team T.A.R.E. (Tindle-Ashley Racing Enterprises) stand in the seventh position, currently qualifying for the 2006 ADRL battle of the belts.
A struggle through the first half of the ADRL series was a setback for Joey Martin, who is 513 points out of the lead, held by Mike Neal. While Martin and the Tindle Site Contracting boys have only reached the winner’s circle once this ADRL season, the veteran race team knows they are quite capable of winning races as the 2006 season winds down.
“We’re not giving up the fight until the whistle blows. We are going to do what it takes to finish strong in the series with hopes of getting the Dozer back in the winner’s circle,” Martin said. The Dozer last saw the winner’s circle when Martin’s teammate, Mike Ashley, won his first 2006 victory, at NHRA’s Gateway Nationals, St.Louis, MO.
Following Friday's one qualifying run, drivers in Pro Extreme will get two more chances to qualify on Saturday. The quickest 16 survivors of what looks to be a brutal qualifying battle will then advance to eliminations later that day.
