Bob Marshall picked up a win with Mopar power in his home state of Ohio, driving his 1965 Dodge Coronet in the Super Stock class during the 5th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio on Sunday, June 26.
Marshall earned his fifth career Super Stock win by downing Roger Keeling in the finals at Norwalk with a pass of 9.739-second at 128.40 mph at .001 under index to his opponent’s 9.776/135.59 at 0.014 under index. Marshall overcame a disadvantage at the starting line, using the Mopar power under the hood to edge his opponent at the top end.
Marshall, who hails from Columbus, Ohio, began his march to the finals with an opening round win over Angelo DeCarlo of Schaumburg Ill. The second round found Marshall up against Joe Buchanan of Bellevue, Ohio, whom he dispatched with a pass of 9.781.
In the third round, Marshall used a run of 9.793 with a reaction time of 0.015 to defeat Michael Lyons of Garden City, Mich., who fouled out. Marshall ousted David Turner of Fresno, Ohio, in the fourth round with a pass of 9.788 at 0.002 under index. The fifth round found Marshall making a solo run, as he was unopposed, setting up a sixth round matchup with Thomas Fletcher of Churchville, N.Y. Marshall used a pass of 9.747 at 0.013 under index, coupled with a 0.023 reaction time to down Fletcher and advance to the finals against Keeling.
