Those front engine dragsters running 5.50s-70s are very impressive, but evil as well. They only run on 12 inch tires! Combined with small blowers and pumps, the ETs they are running are amazing.
Even we were having difficulties running the left lane. Wish I can blame the track for losing in second round of A/G, but I missed the tune up by leaning it out too much.
The '57 is the in-house car. There is another A/G '69 Camaro that we use as a test car for our 32-valve BBC heads, but wasn't there at the March Meet. Scroll down http://www.valleyhead.com/thunder.html
We also helped put together a NE1 FED that will race out of Northern California, but that too was not ready for the March Meet.
VHS is turning 50 this May by my dad Larry. Started out doing work and with for name like Carrol Shelby, Dean Hall, Holman-Moody, Smokey Yunick, and countless drag racers. Many big names have worked there over the years too.
Now-a-days doing mostly classic restorations (were there's money to be made) and this nostalgia racing stuff. Still do a lot of street rod stuff too.
I do not work for VHS, just some side projects. I am a Project Manager for an aerospace company who is not always busy. That's why I come to places like nitromater.
Watched Bangshift starting Thursday and the 'test laps" SOme NICE cars made better testing laps then on a qualifying day!
22 F/a's sure made a statement in my opinion 32 floppers and i think 15 T/F, seems T/F is a slowing down and the otehr 2 classes a picking up!
NICE to see some new winenrs in the classes i liek to watch.
A/FD sure was fun as was the JR fuelers!
Clipper
We went for Saturday & Sunday and had a blast. Saturday was packed. We had to park up a side street a fair distance from the track. i am a huge "big show" fan but this was amazing. Throttle whacks in the pits by many and dry hops to the line by the Nitro Cowboy N/FC. Saturday was definitely better than Sunday just for the shear number of nitro cars on the track. i recommend you see Nostalgia racing at least once. It will leave an impression on you of what it used to be like.
NTF RED have been around a couple of years and they are trying to build the class. Last year I think there were 2 and now 5. Who knows how many more will come out.
As usual, can't get two people to agree on rules or period correctness vs. modern day functionality.
