Manzo Retiring at the end of 2013

Frank just confirmed in his winning interview that he is indeed walking away from the drivers seat and he thinks Maple Grove might be his last race of his career. While it will be sad not seeing him behind the wheel, congrats to him for leaving when he is still at the top of his game. With today's win he is now back at the top of the points. I am happy I will be in attendance to see what might be his last race in Maple Grove.

As a fan it always sucks to see such a great racer step away. Kind of stinks to think that a few months ago at Cordova was the last time I got to see him run.

Congrats to Frank for an incredible career and I hope he has a wonderful retirement.

I first met him at NHRA Summernationals (NJ) in 1980 (the team I was with also used a Tim Richards KB). At Indy that year he had to race Dale Hall in round 1 (?) and he said "Hall has beat me so many times, its my turn to beat him" and Manzo did. The next April at the Southern Nationals he faced Ken Veney in the semi-final. He used the same line about Veney and went on to win round, the Event, and later his first Championship (1981). I wonder how many times in the 30+ years since his opponents tried to use that same logic.

What a career!

I hate to hear Manzo leaving...such incredible accomplishments!

Time to let a new king of Alky in.

I'd like to see John Glade crew chief a new TAFC. I have a Driver he could really work with who could be REALLY Something by what he's done up to this point and from NJ as well;

TJ KASPER. This kid is $$$$ and he has a TAFC License.

Sad to see him go, but he really has nothing else left to prove. Let's hope he can eek out a championship so he can go out on top.

To me, Manzo is to TAFC what Steve Vai is to guitar players - one of the best out there....

The man has a work ethic unparalleled by anyone, and it shows in his performance. Not to mention he's a nice, humble guy and funny as hell. One of those guys that none of his fellow racers will even bother disputing his position in history because everybody likes him and looks up to the guy.

It's a love hate relationship because you'd love to beat him just because he's the best and you hate the fact that you have to run against him because he's the best. He has been setting he bar for the rest of us for 20 years.. I know there will be a few cars that will always be at the top of the sheet, but you can always count on Frank to show you what was possible, and even he keeps pushing it and never takes anyone lightly. He and his guys never get lazy. His best laps of the weekend are usually in the finals if he makes it there. It motivates some people, deflates others.

I hope he goes out on top, and I think he will, for the 17th  time. It will be a battle in Dallas in the heat this weekend. Should be some good racing..

Couldn't agree more! Well said.

The alky fields at the Motorplex are gonna be strong... except for 1 missing dragster. ;)

The kid IS $$$$ or HAS $$$$, cuz TAFC in the big show is no budget proposition...

TJ is a Junior standout and part of a racing family (His pops also races 10.5) who also won 8.50 Index track titles in 2008 at ALL 3 Tracks that held it (Cecil County, Atco & Englishtown).

Also drove the former Tim Lynch 10.5 Mustang to 4.09/201 at the Shakedown at E-Town last year and this year dominated at the Raceway Park Slick Tire Shootout where he actually drove the trailer himself to the event with just a few of his folks to help out.

This guy is Talent and a great well spoken guy.

Frank has never raced in Las Vegas, he told me yesterday he wanted to do it one time before he quit driving,

Alan
