Las Vegas - The Muscle Milk A/Fuel Dragster with Madison Payne at the wheel has been on a performance surge as of late, beginning with the Phoenix Regional last weekend, where they dominated in each round and won the event. This weekend at the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the team continued to make big strides, qualifying number one with a scorching 5.18 at 276 MPH and also earned a runner-up finish.
In round one, Madison drew the number sixteen qualifier, Shaunda Blinzler. At the hit, it was Madison off the line first with a .094 to Blinzler's .114. Madison continued in the lead and took the stripe with a 5.24 at 271 MPH over Blinzler's close 5.28 at 271 MPH.
In the second round, Madison raced Kirk Wolf. Madison again left first with a .058 to Kirk's .068. Madison and Wolf were both on a great run, but it was Madison coming out on top with a 5.21 at 277 MPH to Wolf's 5.27 at 268 MPH.
In the semifinal pairings, it was West Coast vs East Coast as Madison from California raced New Jersey's Jackie Fricke. As the cars left the line, Madison continued to bring her A game with a .049 reaction time to Fricke's .087. Once again, it was all Madison earning a trip to the finals with a winning 5.28 at 274 MPH over Fricke's respectable 5.33 at 276 MPH.
In the final round, Madison raced Jon Bradford, who nearly had a perfect light in the previous round when he upset Joey Severance. At the start, Bradford was out first with a .032 to Madison's .051 reaction time. Both cars were side by side to the finish line with Bradford scoring the victory with a 5.23 at 274 MPH to Madison's valiant 5.27 at 273 MPH. Madison was happy with the results the team got in Vegas. "It was an awesome race. We had an excellent car all weekend, and the consistency was amazing." she said.
Next up, the Muscle Milk team will stay in Las Vegas for the final Lucas Oil Regional event of the year, where Madison and car owner Duane Shields hope to continue their recent streak of round wins and performance gains. Madison and Duane would like to thank Muscle Milk, NGK Spark Plugs, GRP Connecting Rods, Clean Boost, and Brad Anderson Enterprise for their continued support.
