Several news programs (myfoxphoenix is one) are have contests going on. Ive seen two different commercials too. AZ sits as the second to the worst hit by the economy, I wonder how the turnout will be.

Unless I win tickets, I am passing on this year. I am taking the money and going quading for 4 days this weekend instead.

You got that right. I have seen alot more TV ads than ever before. We will be racing there. At least we shouldnt have to sit in the rain for 6 days like Pomona.
Were skipping the National Open this weekend. After last week, and with rain forcast for this weekend. We just needed a week off!

Phoenix area NAPA auto parts stores have coupons for GA.
$5 off Fri -Sat
$10 off Sunday

Good time to pick up anything automotive related stuff too. :D

BTW, I'm waiting for NHRAdotcom to put the event on their page, I want to see the entry list.
They show no event as being scheduled.

You can actually see the entry list now. If you go into the schedule page and go to Phoenix, click on info you will see a place for entry list.

Ya it doesnt matter what channel i watch i see at least 2 advertisments for the race a night! I think that is good hopefully it will get people wanting to that have never gone or didnt know about it! Must agree with my dad just no rain cause i am gonna be rather mad if my first 2 national events as a racer get rained on!

Thanx Brian! I see it now.

For Pomona, NHRA also advertises on the Spanish language stations.
Might be true for the Phoenix area too.

This will be our 22nd year at the Firebird race (which has suddenly become the Lucas Slick Mist nationals) - and the first time of sitting in the stands.
The ticket purchasing process has been an eye opener. We had to monitor Firebird website to catch when the seats we wanted became available
(front row of P10) and just got in. A number of sections designated as reserved are not yet available for sale a week before the event. Large number of $85 Sunday seats on the spectator side remain unsold.
Don't know what this indicates, but I'd say sales look pretty weak. I also have never seen this much advertising and promotion. It will be interesting to see what the crowds will be like.

We'll head over a couple days ahead to have time to park, walk the two miles to the track and wait the 45 minutes to get in so we can be in our seats in time to see some racing. I'm only going Friday.
