[coverattach=1]After placing 10th on the first day of qualifying at the Mile-High Nationals, Jason Line and the Summit Racing team were determined to rebound strongly on Saturday. After analyzing the data from their opening runs, the necessary adjustments were made, with their work paying immediate dividends. Improving on each of his two attempts, Line completed his qualifying effort with the third-quickest time of the final session at 6.990-seconds with a top speed of 197.42 mph to earn the fourth starting spot for Sunday’s final eliminations.
“On each run today, we were directionally correct,” said Line. “That last run was decent, by far the best our Summit Racing Pontiac had made throughout qualifying. There’s a little more left in the car, but tomorrow’s conditions are going to be way different. It’s cool to make a six-second run here at Bandimere, but the really good news is that it earned us a decent qualifying spot.
“Overall, we’re not bad, we’re just not as fast as we would like.  ; It’s one of those deals where the car is not completely happy, but it’s getting there, and I think we should be in decent shape for tomorrow, and if we do our jobs, we will certainly have a shot at winning the race. It might take a little luck, but I don’t think we’ve burned up a lot of that, so tomorrow might be a good day to cash in and get our first win in Denver.”
