Legends of Nitro Announces 260/265 Mile Per Hour Club

(Santa Fe Springs, CA – February 20, 2013) --
Kevin Stith of Stith Printing and Legends of Nitro announced today that his company is starting two clubs for fast nostalgia drag racing cars; the 260 Mile Per Hour Club for Funny Cars and a 265 Mile Per Hour Club for Top Fuel with the first eight drivers attaining that speed mark being welcomed into each club.

“With the possibility that the sanctioning body may soon make changes to Heritage-style racing we thought this would be the best time to acknowledge the fastest racecars and drivers in the country,” said Company President Kevin Stith. "Forming both of these performance clubs is our way of giving back to these top running teams and drivers."

As long as drivers are racing under NHRA Heritage Series Rules, any driver meeting the criterion may be welcomed into each eight-member club, we have included Drag Racing Online AA/FC Challenge competitors to be eligible for the club, since those nitro funny cars race under the same rules.

In March of 2012, two-time NHRA Heritage Series Champion Jason Rupert broke the 260 mph funny car mark with his 5.668/262.03 charge at the 54th March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. Rupert is the first member of the nitro funny car club. Utah’s Jack “the Sherriff” Harris holds the honor of the fastest run ever - 265.09 at the California Hot Rod Reunion in his “Nitro Thunder” top fueler, also at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.

Both Jason Rupert and Jack Harris will receive their distinctive club jackets at a special pre-race induction ceremony on Sunday of the upcoming 55th March Meet on March 10, 2013.

Cool beans Kevin...
(remembering when 200 was big speed in floppers and Tim & John were the big speed car in AA/FD @ 220/230)

Hale's looking for a larger set of slicks and has made amends with the Aluminum gods of the 1320 for MM:D
If it's cool we could possibly add a couple of cars by Sunday night.
The dragsters have been sniffing around 265 for a while with only Jack Harris & Tony Bartone in the club so far.
Mark, you guys making the trip? Hope so, be good to see you again and RG may make a guest appearance on Saturday.

What kind of Gears the Nos. cars running these days?

Kevin, Unfortunately we are not gonna make the March Meet but the Reunion is on our plans for this year. Maybe RG will drag himself out to that one too.

We don't push ours as hard, but we see between 8800 and 9000 at the shift (if I am doing my job right) and about the same at the finish line.

I would have never guessed that with those small pumps you guys run! I remember when NHRA changed the RE Gear on the Fuel cars from the 2.90 to a 3.20 in 1990. Just about everybody was turning 7,200-7,400 RPM with 40-50 GPM pumps! At the 1991 Winternat's Prudhomme had Top speed in Top Fuel at just 276 MPH! What is strange though is Glen Mikres had top speed of the meet in Pisano's FC with a 284 MPH! When was the last time you saw a FC out MPH Dragsters by 8 MPH???
