The DragParts.com Blown Alcohol Thunder Series enjoyed two successful back-to-back races in both Spokane, June 10 at Spokane County Raceway and the following weekend in Boise at Firebird Raceway on June 17. Both events were barn burners that were well attended by fans.
In Spokane, at the “Funny Car Invitational”, Canada’s Dane Lachelt beat Montana’s Brent Jones in the final round of an elimination style race. Lachelt won with a 6.30 over Jones’ 6.65. In the semifinals, Lachelt beat Kelly Flansaas while Jones took care of Rich Bailey. In addition, Lachelt also won both the Good Vibrations Best Reaction Time and the TCS Products Low ET Awards.
In Boise, at the “Great American Fox Hunt” Jones made up for his runner up loss the prior weekend as he beat Bailey in the final round of a Chicago style race. Jones rang up a 6.83 to Bailey’s 7.70. Jones was reinstated in the finals after Flansaas cracked a brake caliper in the second round. Bailey won the Good Vibrations Best Reaction Time while Flansaas won the TCS Products Low ET Award.
The series now moves on to Yakima, WA, for a Saturday night event on July 1 at Renegade Raceway. Currently, Jones leads the point series followed by Flansaas, Bailey and Lachelt.
