Sugar Hill, Ga., February 5, 2008 – This weekend, Kurt Johnson and his ACDelco Cobalt Racing team will launch their pursuit of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock championship at the Carquest Auto Parts Winternationals in Pomona, CA. It is a daunting, year-long task, requiring two separate multi-race charges – first to qualify for the Countdown to One, and then another to challenge for the title. Armed with a new car that has shown potential in limited pre-season action, the red, white and blue crew is ready to race.
However, before he takes to the track on Thursday, KJ will embark on another endeavor, that of being a regular contributor to the Powershift XM Satellite radio show. Beginning with tonight’s edition (Tuesday, February 5), the 36-race winner and perennial championship contender will be calling in prior to each NHRA national event to offer his take on the latest happenings in the world of the “factory hot rods.”
Hosted by Joe Castello with sidekick Tommy Noodles, Powershift is a two-hour show covering all forms of motorsports, and features a lively blend of interviews, commentary and audience interaction. Powershift airs weeknights at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern) on the XM Sports Nation channel 144.
