[coverattach=1]“The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will fit into our program and budget perfectly”
STRATFORD, ONTARIO (February 21, 2009) - For the past few seasons the K&K Racing Top Sportsman team has been concentrating on the IHRA circuit with some success, including a pair of National Event wins. The team’s focus will change in 2009, as it will compete in the new Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
Along with running in a new series, K&K will also debut a new car this coming season. After many years of loyal service the trusty but very tired LeBaron was sold. Team owner/driver Kevin Wicke purchased the 2006 Pro Stock Dodge Stratus from Larry and Wayne O’Brien.
“It was something we have been talking about for a few years but the LeBaron just kept going laps,” said Wicke. “We decided it was finally time to upgrade and the Stratus was available, and it should work perfect for us. I know Zimmy (Crew Chief Kevin Zimmer), Danno (Dan Culliton) and Denny (Dennis Culliton) are really excited about it, maybe more than me. We will run our same engine program in the Stratus, and hopefully we can get the handle on the chassis quickly.
The new series will provide a welcome change to the team.
“The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA will fit into our program and budget perfectly,” Wicke continued. “We can compete against some of the best and quickest bracket racers and stay a little closer to home this year.”
Crew Chief Zimmer realizes there’s work ahead for the team with the new car.
“On paper, it should be a perfect situation,” stated Zimmer, “but as we all know it is what happens on the track that matters. This is a big step in technology as far as race cars go, it will be a lot of fun but could also be a very long year. This new deal with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA is great and it shows a lot of potential.”
The K&K Team will once again have the support of long time marketing partners such as FRAM Canada, Perth Auto Dismantlers, Ron’s Precision Machine, Skully Bros. Metal Fabrication and CVR Inc.

About: Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, of drag racing was started early in 2009 as an alternative for high-horsepower Sportsman-class teams to compete on a regular basis.
With 32-car qualified fields comprised of the 16 quickest open wheeled cars (Top Dragster) and the 16 quickest door cars (Top Sportsman), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will feature the best in ET-style, dial-in drag racing, competing on a Sportsman ladder and will pit door-slammers against dragsters in every race day final.
Competitors in this Ontario-based series must comply with the IHRA Top Dragster and Top Sportsman Safety rules and regulations, and the maximum dial-in will be 7.95 seconds for the quarter-mile.
This new venture is providing $3000 to win for each event and $5000 for the annual point award series champion, payouts very popular with competitors and will provide large fields of race cars.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series is committed in providing a professional atmosphere for its teams. It will also provide solid media and logistic support to ensure it becomes one of the most popular drag race series running Top Sportsman and Top Dragster race cars.
For 2009, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will compete six times, several times with the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), Pro Modified Racing Association, as well as selected special events.
