enjoyed mr. asher's analysis of the espy's; can't help thinking though that

a win on that online poll for female sports stars a couple years ago.
yes, there is no reason at all for two nominees from the discipline of drag racing.
also great reading about the encourager john force - almost LOL reading about
his frequent trips to the tv compound to smooze the producer.
beats em' on & off the track.

The stultifying sameness and ForceLove of the shows had me watching the tour instead of the last race.
I don't enjoy:
-watching JFR pitch products
-Paul Page and his lack of respect for the sport. How about Snake, Shirley and Dunn for an announcing team.
-the director's news judgement. Yo, plant your arse in the golf cart and drive around the pits. If you can't find original and interesting stories there, you don't deserve your position.
-how little sanctioning body leadership is evident. Hey Tom, would it kill you to stand on the starting line once or twice a race.

As for Page, I agree 100%. As for Shirley in the booth, unless you want to make sure no one watches, I dont suggest that. I love drag racing, but if you put her on the tv cast, I promise I will never watch another minute.

I say bring back Baze...even though I was on Tony P's team in '03 when we won the championship against him. Things were pretty tense between him and Tony and his team and ours...but it was awesome and I think he isn't afraid to ask the questions everyone else is. Baze is a good guy, he just wears his emotions on his sleeve like a few of us.
If they tried catering for a younger crowd then I hope they don't do what lots of other automotive related broadcasts or tv shows do by trying to be cool and hip. I am 23 and yes I am a bit old fashioned and relate more to older people then myself, but alot of automotive shows have been ruined by having people who try talking hip with lots of slang and wear clothes that obviously dont fit and walk like they have a carrot up their butt.
I will stick to speaking properly and wearing my leather shoes, black jeans, and a t-shirt thank you.
I am sorry if that doesn't make sense to people but I have seen alot of shows where they seem to hire people who act and look they are the next big time rapper or something.
Which reminds me the broadcast needs to choose better music.

Conversely, if Shirley was in the booth, I wouldn't miss a race. I enjoyed the Snake too. Since Paul's been in the booth my viewing habits have dwindled to watching the recap on Wind Tunnel. I'm sure Paul's a nice guy. I just can't take him trying to pretend like he cares about drag racing. The shows are unlistenable and this unwatchable for me.

Listening to Paul, away from ESPN Broadcasts, and reading elsewhere, the man 'loves' drag racing, and it is as much his 'roots' as Indy Cars.
You can't blame the man for what 'The Show' feeds Mike and Paul, tucked away in a small room, not able to view the racing except the same camera feed we are seeing, for his comments.
I'll take Paul over Marty(always made my teeth hurt) any day...

Paul Page may not be a drag racing newbie...but he still doesn't seem to know what's important and what isn't...and you can't tell me that the production team is telling him when to say "WITH A SIX!!"
I found Page to be almost unwatchable and unlistenable doing Indy cars and it's much, much worse with drag racing...at least with Marty Reid you could mentally tune him out, like and FM DJ, but Paige is so "in your face" that I simply can't watch the broadcasts anymore
OTOH I agree that the production team need a serious shake-up...the fact that someone making production decisions is making those decisions based on being a fan and not objectively is troubling...
